  • Large round paper mache box

INSTRUCTIONS:

Mix Silver Sage Green with Multi Purpose Sealer per directions on bottle. Using your sponge brush, base entire box inside and out with this mix. Let dry. Place lid on box and tape the 1" wide paper band around box half way between the bottom of the lid and the bottom of the box. This will keep the band where the rosebuds go "clean". Remove lid and set aside.

Now lightly dampen your seawool sponge. Lightly load sponge with Silver Sage Green. Pick up some Lt. Buttermilk and pounce on palette to blend. Now lightly pounce all over sides of box. If you pounce lightly you will not get paint under your paper band. Remove paper band and let dry.

Transfer design. Do a continuous "chain" of rosebuds in the plain band on your box and place random rosebuds on the top of the box. Place lace pattern around the rim of the lid.

Base rosebuds with Dusty Rose. Place a float of Lt. Buttermilk on wide end of bud and a float of Antique Rose on tips of buds.

Base stems with Hauser Dk. Green. With your dirty brush, pick up a tiny bit of Hauser Lt. Green and stroke on leaves. Pick up more Hauser Dk. Green and tip into Hauser Lt. Green until all the leaves are done. The three leaves around the rosebuds are done in the same manner. Base the little nubs right below the rosebuds with Hauser Dk. Green. Let dry.

The lace is done with simple strokes of Lt. Buttermilk. I used the end of my #1 round to place the large dots and my stylus to place the smaller dots. Don't forget to place donts on both edges of the band. Let dry.

Use the 5 petal flower stamp from Designer Dots to place Lt. Buttermilk flowers here and there around the rosebuds on the lid of the box. Let dry.

Spray the outside of the box and top of lide with Sealer/Finisher Gloss Spray. Use the brush on varnish inside the box and lid. The reson for this is that you do not want the inside of the box to smell like the spray. It can take weeks to get rid of that smell.

I hope you have enjoyed painting this box!
